Q: How can I sponsor a child?

A: If you wish to sponsor a child contact us. Once you contacted us, we will send you an e-mail including photos and information about children looking for sponsor (information includes family description and information on how your sponsored child will benefit from the sponsorship).

Q: What will happen after I choose a child?

A: As soon as you send us the school fee, you will become the child’s sponsor. As such twice a year you will receive a report card showing how is your sponsored child’s academic performance in school, and couple of times you will receive a letter or drawing from your sponsored child.

Q: How are children chosen for sponsorship?

A: First, a baseline survey is done in the whole slum to identify the neediest children in the community. The most important considerations are being an orphan, poor and destitute.

Q: How my sponsored child is going to benefit from my contribution?

A: Our sponsorship program focuses primarily on sponsoring the education of orphans and other needy children that they can get education. Your sponsorship fees will cater for school fees, uniform, one meal per day for five days a week during school season (but not on weekends and during school breaks).

Q: How can I pay my contribution for the sponsorship?

A: You can pay your contribution in different ways. For more information please visit the ‘Donate‘ section on our webpage.

Q: Can I visit my sponsored child?

A: Of course you can visit your sponsored child/family. It can be a very rewarding experience, for you and the sponsored child/family, to meet face-to-face. If you ever desire to do so, let us know and we will arrange your visit and give you general information on how you can get to B.C.C School in Matopeni Slum.

Q: Can I send money directly to my sponsored child?

A: If you wish to send extra money or gift to your sponsored child or family, we would advise you to send it through B.C.C as we will make sure they receive your gift. After your sponsored child/family has received the gift, we will take a picture of the child/family with your gift so you can see yourself how happy your gift has made her/him.

Q: Can I send packages/gifts to my sponsored child?

A: We can understand your desire to send gifts/packages to your sponsored child. You can send such packages to the children using the following address:
Boston Children Centre
P.O. Box 1068 Code 00518
Kayole, Nairobi
Kenya

Q: Can I write to my sponsored child?

A: You can send cards and letters to your sponsored child through the school address (see above) or via our e-mail address. We will make sure that your sponsored child receives your letter or e-mail and we will also arrange for translation. Since the Kenyan postal service is not very reliable, we would advise you to contact us if you have not heard from us within 3 months after sending your letter.
Also, please allow between one to two months for a reply from your sponsored child. In some cases the sponsored child is not old enough to write him/herself, so he/she needs assistance.

Q: Can I make a gift sponsorship on behalf of another person?

A: If you wish to do so, please contact us.

Q: When will my sponsored child no longer need assistance?

A: In principle the child will no longer need your sponsorship when s/he has left school after her high school education (or a technical school where /s/he learnt trade) and found a job.
We will let you know when your sponsored child has been able to start working and earning a living, or when the family you are sponsoring no longer needs help. When this happens we will offer you another opportunity to sponsor another child or family. We are confident that after you have seen how your contribution has changed the life of the child or family you have sponsored, you will want to enjoy this experience again. The experience of joy for helping a needy child or family who becomes strong, self-reliant and happier thanks to your generous contribution.
